Bywaters and Reyooz have managed to re-home 26 bikes through The Bike project – a charity that collect bikes, repairs them, and then donates them to refugees and asylum-seekers.

The assignment was facilitated through Bergmann Direct – a German supplier of waste balers and compactors and Bywaters customer, who contacted us to clear 26 bicycles from their UK office.

Acting Quickly to Save Bikes from Disposal

Bergmann challenged us with one of Bywaters‘ competitors, who had previously provided a £300 disposal quote for the bikes, which would have meant them going to waste. Despite this offer, we were triumphant by utilising our Reyooz partnership in order to save these bicycles from being scrapped, and ensuring they were instead reused and went to the people most in need.

With an outstanding turn around of just two days, we managed to arrange a drop-off time with The Bike Project, collect the bikes from Bergmann Direct using our own sustainable vehicles, and deliver them to the charity to be donated to some of the most vulnerable people in London.

A spokesman at Bywaters commented:

“The Bike Project greeted the cycles with open arms and quickly renovated and distributed them to refugees in London. Our partner Reyooz got nothing out of this, they waived their usual commission on the job deciding that sometimes it’s better to do the right thing than to make a few quid.”

Another Example of Our Excellent Service

Bergmann Direct are now fully aware of Bywaters’ commitment to go the extra mile to provide first-class waste management services, which will hopefully see us maintaining our valuable partnership for the foreseeable future.

Thank you to everyone at Bywaters and Reyooz who was involved in this job and keep up the good work in 2019.
