Bywaters has just taken delivery of two 3.5 tonne cage-tipper vehicles to provide a rapid response for clients even in difficult traffic conditions.

Bywaters Purchases New Vehicles to Improve Service Delivery Speed

When local authorities, hospitals, City businesses, or property managers need rapid removal of unplanned waste – either from a missed collection, an office clearance, or as a result of an environmental incident (e.g. a fire or flood), Bywaters can now deploy these vehicles to deal with the waste quickly and efficiently.

Smaller Vehicles Navigate London’s Streets Faster

Designed to reach customers as soon as possible, Bywaters’ new cage-tipper vehicles are small enough to travel through London’s busy traffic more efficiently than larger trucks, without the hindrance of width, height, or parking restrictions.

In London’s sometimes narrow streets, the small size of these vehicles enables them to carry out kerbside collections with greater efficiency than our regular collection trucks.

Enhancing an Already Impressive Vehicle Fleet

These two cage-tipper vehicles are the latest additions to Bywaters’ £7 million fleet of 62 eco-friendly vehicles, comprising of:

  • 25 dustcarts
  • 5 tail-lift vehicles
  • 13 skip-loaders
  • 17 hook-loaders

All vehicles in Bywaters’ fleet meet Euro 5/6 emission standards, and recent improvements have led to quieter operations and a significant reduction in carbon emissions (up to a 96% reduction compared to non-Euro 5/6 vehicles).

Bywaters’ new cage-tipper vehicles are already working across London and the Home Counties, extending the range of waste removal services that we provides to our customers. The new service is designed to minimise environmental risk and to ensure duty of care obligations are met for all clients.

Technology Used to Ensure Vehicle and Driver Performance

All Bywaters’ vehicles servicing the capital have an on-board Dynafleet system which monitors and tracks both the vehicle’s environmental sustainability and the driver’s driving patterns, along with exhaust fittings to filter out harmful substances like Nitrous Oxide (NOx).

In addition all Bywaters drivers use digital tachocards to store information about their driving performance, and safety systems are fitted to all vehicles, such as 360-degree cameras and audible alarms to alert the public of their presence.

Bywaters is Committed to a Safe, Sustainable, and Efficient Fleet

These new agile additions to Bywaters’ vehicle fleet demonstrate our commitment to deliver the best possible service to our clients, while also keeping London both safe and sustainable – in-keeping with our ‘London for London’ approach.

Mark Harbard, Associate Director at Bywaters said of the new acquisitions:

“London’s historic streets were not designed for today’s traffic and width, height and parking restrictions can hinder collections. When time is critical, these vehicles enables us to be more responsive to customer needs and able to offer an improved, more flexible service.”
