Bywaters has enjoyed fantastic success at the inaugural waste management ’35 under 35′ awards scheme – a ceremony designed to highlight the talent and dedication shown by exceptional young people working in the industry.

The First ’35 under 35′ Awards for Waste Management

We’re delighted to say that not only was Bywaters shortlisted for a company award, but both Edward van Reenen (Head of Health & Sustainability) and Sam Fairservice (Head of Commercial) were also selected, with Ed being named as one of the top three professionals under 35 in the industry.

The ’35 under 35′ awards are a programme organised by leading recycling and waste management news platform, letsrecycle.com. The awards identify people under 35 who strive for professional excellence, promote industry innovation, and give back to their company or community.

Bywaters are happy not only to see that two of our own staff were shortlisted for these awards, but also that talented younger people in the waste management industry are getting the recognition they deserve.

Bywaters’ Edward van Reenen Named in Top Three

It’s fantastic to be able to say that our very own Head of Health & Sustainability, Edward van Reenen, has been crowned one of the top three professionals aged under 35 in the waste management industry – being praised specifically for his innovative approach which has helped save millions for Bywaters’ healthcare and public sector clients.

In previous recognition of his work, Ed also received a trophy from Countdown host Rachel Riley at this year’s Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management in London on May 10th.

Ed is a passionate environmentalist who has spearheaded cultural change around the issue of sustainability both in and outside work. He is dedicated to creating a more sustainable world and is a key figure both personally and professionally. He fully deserves to be recognised in the top three in the industry’s first ’35 under 35′ awards and it’s fantastic to see him there.

Sam Fairservice, Bywaters’ Head of Commercial, Also Shortlisted

Ed was joined on the 35-strong shortlist by Bywaters’ Head of Commercial, Sam Fairservice. Sam was recognised for having been central to the commercial success that Bywaters has enjoyed in recent years – which, among other things, saw us named as the 2017 Green Apple ‘Champion of Champions’.

Like Ed, Sam is a central part of the Bywaters family, and somebody who we’re lucky to have as part of our team. This award is deserved recognition of the exceptional work he has done within the waste management industry.

Bywaters Shortlisted for a Company Award

At the Awards, Bywaters was also a finalist in the ‘Waste Management Initiative in the Retail, Commercial and Public Sector’ category for its innovative work in boosting recycling rates with Tube Lines Ltd. Our partnership with Tube Lines has seen Bywaters increase the Mayor of London’s recycling rate to 85%, among many other successful initiatives.

Bywaters’ success at the ’35 under 35′ awards comes after we were shortlisted in four categories for the prestigious National Recycling Awards 2018, and it’s great to see all our hard work being recognised by the industry.

Our proactive work in tackling single-use plastic pollution and fighting carbon emissions in London are among the initiatives we’re most proud to champion – alongside our successful partnerships with the Francis Crick Institute and BNP Paribas Real Estate.

A Bright Future for Bywaters

For us as a company, it’s fantastic to have so much talent among our younger members of staff. A huge congratulations to Ed and Sam for being included in the first waste management ’35 under 35′ awards, and to all of our other staff who could easily have seen themselves shortlisted.

We look forward to more days like today, and with the team we have assembled, it feels like we can keep pushing to provide better and better services for our clients.
