Bywaters is celebrating a quadruple win after picking up a number of trophies at the NHS Sustainability Awards 2018.

Bywaters Reaching New Heights in Clinical Waste Management

Hosted at a ceremony in London, during the 2018 NHS Sustainability Awards Bywaters staff enjoyed a three-course dinner and presentations from special guest speakers including Helen Pankhurst (Women’s’ Rights Campaigner and great granddaughter of Emily Pankhurst) and legendary rugby player Jamie Peacock MBE.

In previous years’ NHS Awards, Bywaters was ‘Highly Commended’ in the Waste category in 2015 and 2017 respectively. However, this year we went all the way to secure top spot for our clinical waste services as well as acquiring first place trophies within the Staff Engagement and Procurement divisions, and an accolade for Overall Winner of the NHS Sustainability Awards.

A Great Day for Bywaters’ Partnership with Guys & St Thomas’s

The Bywaters team, along with their partners from Guys & St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust, were called on stage to collect the awards, which were presented by Ms Pankhurst and Mr Peacock.

Both organisations were commended for driving improvements in efficiency, well-being and public health through their joint partnership and ongoing sustainability projects.

Kind Words from the NHS About Award Nominees

Discussing this year’s nominees, NHS Sustainability Day Campaign Manager, Scott Buckler said:

“I am continually impressed and surprised at how much leadership exists within the NHS. All our nominees, highly commended and winners have proven that sustainability is a key driver in ensuring we have an NHS fit for the future.”

Bywaters’ Head of Health & Sustainability, Edward van Reenen, added:

“We have been a leading waste contractor for Guys & St Thomas’ Hospital for many years, so winning this award is an inspirational achievement and great accolade to continue forging our way in sustainability and hopefully securing  some more customers along the way.”

Bywaters Looks to the Future

This was one of the proudest nights in Bywaters’ long history, and the team fully deserve the accolades they have received. We are always striving to improve the services we offer to our clients, especially the hospitals and medical institutions we work with in the healthcare sector, and we look forward to enjoying more award successes in the future.
