To enhance our credentials as London’s premier waste management company, Bywaters has strengthened our Euro 6 vehicle fleet by adding many new additions to our impressive portfolio.

Improving London’s Environment

This investment forms an integral part of Bywaters’ ongoing commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and improving sustainability in and around the nation’s capital.

Last year, Bywaters acquired two-caged 3.5 tonne tipper vehicles, in addition to a £7m company investment in 25 dustcarts, 5 tail-lift vehicles, 13 skip-loaders, and 17 hook-loaders. This Euro 6 expansion demonstrates our ongoing commitment to sustainable waste management in London.

The tipper vehicles have since provided a ‘rapid response’ collection service for Bywaters’ customers, as they are small enough to travel through London’s busy traffic without weight, height and parking restrictions.

Brand New Mercedes Econic Vehicles Are Both Sustainable and Safe

As with last year’s purchases, the new additions to our fleet meet the stringent Euro 6 emission standards and will operate to and from Bywaters’ Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Bow, East London – which is licensed to process 650,000 tonnes of waste material per annum.

Luke Taylor, Senior Transport Manager at Bywaters said:

“Our new Mercedes Econic vehicles, which we will be taking delivery of from now until just after Christmas, are the latest in innovation and meet very high standards of quality with the transport sector.

“They provide comfort, efficiency, environmental compatibility and uncompromising commitment.

“The fleet also meets the direct vision standards for vulnerable road users. With heightened focus on cyclists and pedestrian safety in busy urban areas, our new econics provide more ocular vision to ensure more visibility all round.”

Bywaters’ Commitment to Constant Improvement

As a company, Bywaters is never content to stay still. Our dedicated team are always trying to improve the efficiency of our services in a way that reduces carbon emissions, increases recycling rates, and stays true to our ‘London for London’ ethos. These new vehicles are an example of this commitment.

Harry Howell,  Weighbridge Operator at Bywaters, noted:

“Pioneering the waste industry with our revolutionary fleet not only embodies what we stand for but what our partnering clients are aiming to achieve across the city.

“Our vehicles are the backbone of our services, which is why we have invested £7.5 million to purchase a more efficient Euro 6 fleet, which meet NEDC and RDE assessment requirements (and produce <0.08g/km of NOx).

“The Euro 6 vehicles are decades ahead of current UK legislation on emissions and are equipped with advanced onboard weighing technology to further increase the accuracy of our reporting data.”

Euro 6 Vehicles Keep Bywaters at the Top

Important features to note on our new fleet include side sensors, audio warnings, robust cycle skirting, signage, and all round 4-way camera systems.

These vehicles provide London’s safest and most efficient collection fleet for customers, and are equipped for the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) coming into force from April 2019.

This business strategy demonstrates Bywaters core objectives of reducing both carbon and plastic pollution while streamlining its processes to become the UK’s first choice for recycling and waste management.
