Bywaters helping hand into sustainability

A true waste management partnership has been cemented at the recent Guy's & St Thomas' Awards Ceremony.

The annual awards recognise the outstanding individual and team contributions to the work of the Trust and were celebrated at the prestigious awards ceremony at Old Billingsgate, London in November 2011.

The commitment and dedication from Bywaters, SRCL and the hospital's Waste Management Team was rewarded by the presentation of the Peter des Roches Sustainability Award by Rt. Hon. Simon Hughes MP.

The Peter des Roches Sustainability award is dedicated to consummate environmentalists who have developed an innovative approach to saving resources, and delivering benefits for the Trust through their actions.

Alan Armstrong, Trust Waste Manager, Guy's & St Thomas' says: "The Bywaters and SRCL teams should be truly proud of this fantastic achievement. The waste management team is a true partnership between the Trust, Bywaters and SRCL and this success only reinforces the excellent reputation that the team has at the Trust".

Bywaters, in association with SRCL, offers Guy's & St Thomas' a bespoke recycling solution that is tailored to the diverse needs of the Trust's wards and departments. As a result recycling figures continue to increase year on year.

With over 25 years working within the NHS and clinical sector, Bywaters has built a deep and thorough understanding of the needs of these customers. We work closely with Guy's & St Thomas' to increase their recycling rates by educating customers, staff and the public to segregate into the correct streams.
