28th January 2010:
Bywaters’ Burns Supper was a tremendous tartan success. London’s local Recycling and Resource Management company’s first ever Burns Night united industry peers from across England and Europe for an evening of entertainment.
The event was a celebration of Bywaters’ achievements via the life and work of the Scottish poet Robert Burns, author of many poems including ‘Auld Lang Syne’. The supper revolved around haggis and whisky with the bagpipes, recitals and singing. Staff from Bywaters provided all the entertainment for the evening.
John S Glover, Managing Director of Bywaters says: “It was a wonderful experience hosting our first ever Burns Supper. A truly unique supper where we were able to celebrate the Poet’s birth and provide an excellent opportunity to meet old friends and make new friends in a convivial and distinctive atmosphere. Like Burns, we at Bywaters pride ourselves on being true to our heritage and culture, at the same time delivering high quality products and services. The Supper was an ideal occasion for our peers to obtain a taste of who we are.”
As a prelude to the Burns Supper, the guests were conducted on a tour of London’s largest undercover dry recyclables Materials Recovery Facility, where state-of-the-art machinery is used to recover in excess of 15 different material streams from incoming commingled dry recyclables.
