16th December 2009:
Recycling is an excellent way of saving energy and conserving the environment. The benefits of reducing, reusing and recycling material are plentiful and we know even a little bit goes a long way.
Not only does recycling play a pivotal role but it is now reported that workers within the industry socially enhance our environment. A recent study by the New Economics Foundation thinktank rated different jobs on how much they help or hinder society through the social, economic and environmental effects of the work.
It is noted that waste recycling workers help promote recycling, reducing carbon emissions and the amount of goods being thrown into landfill. This ultimately helps society, now and in the future, so they create £12 for every £1 of wages.
John S Glover, Managing Director, Bywaters says: "At Bywaters we pride ourselves on our innovation and strive to develop and embrace new technologies to further divert waste from landfill. It is wonderful that our industry is now receiving the credos it has worked so hard to achieve.”
