16th December 2009:
Bywaters (Leyton) Ltd, one of London’s leading Recycling and Resource Management organisations, is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Johnson as its new Chairman. This appointment continues Bywaters’ path to a growing and profitable future.
Peter joins Bywaters as the former Corporate Development Director of Cory Environmental, which he founded in 1981. He took early retirement in October 2005 after spearheading Cory’s growth, in London and beyond, to become one of the leading, and most respected and profitable companies in the Resource industry.
During his career Peter has also served on the Environmental Services Association Executive Committee, the Board of London Remade and a wide range of other industry bodies. He has a strong track record of consistently delivering growth and enhancing shareholder value. Since retiring from full time work he has acted as an advisor to a number of Resource management and investment companies, and is also a director of environmental consultancy, LRS.
John S Glover, Managing Director, Bywaters says: "I met Peter, via London Remade, in 2007 and immediately appreciated his easy understanding of complex issues. We have met periodically since this time and share similar values in business and life. When the opportunity arose I immediately thought of Peter and was delighted when he accepted the position. Peter is a man that just exudes sense and excellent commercial practice. I used to think Peter is the person "we" would really like to be involved with. Now the time has come.”
Peter Johnson commented: “I am delighted to be joining Bywaters at a very exciting time for the firm and for the industry. I have known and respected Bywaters for many years whilst at Cory and London Remade. Bywaters combines the virtues of integrity and innovation with superb service delivery, and I look forward to working with the Board and the staff to take their business onto the next level.”
Peter will be supported by the existing Board and two recent appointments. Craig Butcher joined as Finance Director in August 2009 and Martin Passingham, Sales and Marketing Director, in November 2009.
