9th November 2007:
On 30th October 2007, John Glover, Managing Director of Bywaters, was invited to the Globe Theatre on London’s South Bank to attend the Mayor's Green Procurement Code Awards.

There were five awards to be made and Bywaters was selected by a panel of judges as the ‘Best performing Small and Medium Enterprise’.

Bywaters received this award for increasing its procurement of recycled products and products from sustainable resources, by over 900% compared with the previous year.

The Mayor's Green Procurement Code focuses on stimulating demand in London for products with recycled content. It encourages organisations to 'close the loop' for example recycling their paper and buying back recycled paper. Bywaters is a signatory to the Code along with all London Local Authorities and many private sector organisations. Since its launch in 2001, members of the Green Procurement Code have spent £379 million on green products and diverted 1.3 million tonnes of waste from landfill.
